Welcome to Derby and District RSPCA

Late night opening until 7pm every Thursday!

Why are we here?

Have you ever wondered what Derby RSPCA do or what is it that is different about us to other animal welfare charities in the area?  Well - we are the only charity that have an Inspectorate that rescue animals from cruelty or neglect and then spend our time rehabilitating them so they can find loving forever homes.  If you need to report cruelty please dial 0300 1234 999.

Poppy is a prime example of the work we do, however in this case she was actually found by a wonderful member of the public who took the time to put herself at risk to rescue Poppy who was lying exhausted and probably dying on a quiet country lane in the dark hours of the evening.  Without the heroic intervention of this lady Poppy would certainly have perished in a very short space of time.  The lady rang our National Call Centre who arranged for our vet to take Poppy in until the next day when she was stable enough to come to the Centre.  She is very badly emaciated and exhausted, but still manages to wag her tail.  With love, the right feeding regime and time we hope she will make it.  I know you will no doubt find these photos upsetting, but we make no apologies for showing them.  Our business is a very serious one and we all take it very seriously which is why we appreciate any help that the public give us.

Our RSPCA Van Needs A Driver!

Do you enjoy driving? If so we have a vacancy for a volunteer driver to collect/deliver stock from and to our Centre and Charity Shops on either a Monday or a Friday. Must be over 25 years. Please contact Karen Carter for more information on 01332 344620 or karen.carter@rspcaderby.org.uk.

140th Birthday Celebrations at Derby RSPCA!

Including the "Carsington Water 7" Run.

Derby & District RSPCA turns 140 this year, an incredible milestone for a Centre devoted to the welfare of animals since 1872. We have a whole range of events to celebrate our special birthday and you can see these in our Events Diary by clicking the "What's On" tab.

In particular, there is a special Collection on May 19th, the 140th day of the year. June sees our first ever sporting event - a 7 mile run and 2.5 mile fun run (or walk) at the stunning Carsington Water. And in July it's our very own dog show, "Bark in the Park". If you would like to find out more about any of these events please click here

About Derby RSPCA

We have many animals that need  a second chance at a loving, lifetime home so please don't forget to have a look at our animal adoption pages.  If you think you can help, please visit Derby RSPCA on Abbey Street, Derby or phone 01332 344 620.

We exist to provide help to animals from Derby and the surrounding Derbyshire areas. Our work is invaluable to the lives of the many animals which have suffered from cruelty or neglect.  We never put a rehomeable animal to sleep. All the dogs, cats, rabbits, and small animals which come to our Centre are given veterinary care and love and as appropriate are neutered, vaccinated, wormed, flea treated and micro-chipped before they are rehomed - a neutering voucher is issued if the animal is too young.

We hope you will enjoy browsing through our site. We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our Abbey Street Centre.

Thank you for your continuing support
