Elderly stray finally finds forever home

Carrot

Authored on: 15 December 2022

Carrot came to us in September after being found living on the streets. He had obviously had a hard time and was very scared of us, but we could tell there was a sweet cat hidden beneath the fear...

At 10 years old, Carrot was ready to put his feet up and enjoy his golden years in the comfort of a loving home, but he first needed to learn to trust us. One of our fantastic foster families offered to take him, in order to give him the best chance of coming out of his shell. They spent their days sitting with him, talking to him, and gently encouraging him to come out for a fuss, and after a few weeks with them, he was finding his confidence!

After six weeks in his foster home, he found an amazing forever home!

His adopters said “When he came to us, he had to get used to another family and home so initially hid behind the sofa and was very anxious about everything.  But lots of patience, reassuring words, treats and stroking him on his terms has worked wonders. He loves a lap and has mad moments chasing his ball and the light from a pointer. We have only ever adopted old cats from the RSPCA as they can often be overlooked. Our reward is seeing Carrot trust us more and more and enjoy his life free from stress, just being the cat he should be.”
