Donate your time

There are many ways in which you can become involved with Derby RSPCA, by assisting at our Animal Centre, helping out at one of our charity shops, coming along to support our events, donating or even organising your own fundraising event!

As an independent charity we rely on volunteers to help with a variety of activities to ensure that we can keep our Animal Centre running on a day to day basis.

There are a wide range of activities that you can help with, but at the moment we are particularly in need of Charity Shop Assistants and Meet and Greet volunteers to help out at the Animal Centre.

Please note that you must be 16+ to help us as a volunteer at our Animal Centre and 25+ to be a Driver, both due to insurance restrictions. Under 16s can volunteer at fundraising events if accompanied by an adult.

What do I get out of volunteering?

Volunteering for Derby & District RSPCA is an enjoyable way of spending your free time to help out with local animal welfare. It's a great way to meet new people, make new friends and have fun as well as developing your skills. Don't forget it's great for your CV too!

Just knowing that you are making a real difference to animal welfare in your area is hugely rewarding. We rehabilitate and rehome animals in need and contributing to that is something to be proud of.

Criteria

The criteria varies for each role. However all applicants must:

• UK Resident
• Minimum age for volunteer roles 16 Years (Excludes Dog Walking & Dog Kennel Work )
• Minimum age for Dog Walking and Dog Kennel Work 18 Years

What happens next?

If you're successful we will progress to the next steps. Volunteering is no different to any other vacancy we recruit for, you can expect:

Full references to be required.
Full induction to be given. Usually approximately 1.5 hours in duration.
Heath and Safety Training
Assessment of any further training needs.

*Uniform available to purchase at induction: Hoody and T-Shirt minimum donation to the centre of £10.

Once the induction has been completed you are ready for volunteering! Where appropriate we will provide you with a 'buddy' but support systems are always in place.

All volunteers will be treated fairly throughout their time with the Branch. The Volunteer Co-ordinator, along with the Supervisor in whichever area you are volunteering, will support you throughout your time at the Centre.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Team!
