Shops that make a difference

Charity shop

Authored on: 16 September 2025

Across Derbyshire, our seven charity shops - in Alvaston, Belper, Chaddesden, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Ripley, and Spondon - do more than just sell second-hand treasures. They are hubs of generosity, turning donations of clothes, homeware, books, toys, and more into vital support for rescue animals.

Every item given or purchased helps make a real difference to the animals in our care.

Powered by community kindness

Our shops rely on the kindness of their local communities to provide good-quality donations. Whether it’s clearing out a cupboard, passing on items no longer needed, or finding a bargain while browsing, every contribution helps fund the essential work we do, caring for abused, neglected and abandoned animals.

Without this support, much of our work simply wouldn’t be possible.

A team effort

Running a charity shop is a true team effort. Staff and volunteers dedicate their time to sorting, pricing, and displaying donations, ensuring every item reaches its potential in raising funds. And the community’s continued generosity makes it all worthwhile.

From donating that extra pair of shoes to picking up a second-hand book, your support has a real, tangible impact. Every item helps us care for animals and ensures we can continue supporting animals who have no where else to turn.

Every item counts!
