Margo’s Journey

When Margo, a three-year-old British Bulldog, first came into our care, it was clear something was very wrong. Every breath was a battle. You could hear her gasping and snorting just to move around, fighting for air that should have come easily.

On top of her breathing difficulties, poor Margo was also living with entropion, a painful condition where her eyelids rolled inwards and rubbed against her eye. The constant irritation had already left her eye cloudy and at risk of ulceration. She also had excess skin above her nose that was adding to the discomfort.

Despite all this, Margo’s personality still shone through. She was bouncy, playful, and full of love - a young dog desperate to run, play, and enjoy her life. What she needed was urgent surgery to give her that chance.

Thanks to the kindness of the wonderful vets at Highfields, the cost of the three major procedures was heavily discounted to £1,300. But as a small, independent charity, this was still a huge amount for us to raise on our own.

So, on the evening of 3 September, we asked for your help.

What happened next was truly incredible.

Within just 15 hours, every single pound was raised. By 9am the next morning, we had reached our target. The response was overwhelming - donations poured in, messages of support came flooding through, and it was clear that Margo’s story had touched so many hearts.

Because of your kindness, Margo was able to undergo her life-changing surgery straight away.

On 4 September, Margo bravely faced not one, but three operations:

  • BOAS surgery to open her airways and help her breathe freely

  • Entropion surgery to relieve the painful rubbing of her eyelids

  • Nasal fold removal to reduce irritation and infection risk

It was a lot for such a young dog, but she came through it all with flying colours.

Margo is now thriving.

Her wounds are healing beautifully, she’s breathing freely for the first time in her life, and her eyes are finally pain-free. She has bounced back with all the energy and joy of a dog who has been given a second chance.

Margo now has the bright future she deserves - a future filled with play, walks, love, and comfort instead of struggle and pain.

We cannot thank you enough for making this possible. Every donation, every share, and every kind word helped transform Margo’s life.

Her story is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together. From the bottom of our hearts - thank you for giving Margo her happy new beginning.
